The Joy of Saying Yes & April Ordinary Lovely Things



Sometimes you've just got to say yes.


That's what happened this month when we got invited to the Final Four Men's Basketball Tournament in Phoenix. We adore the North Carolina State State Wolfpack and knew this was a rare, big deal kind of moment. So against my usual not-very-spontaneous self, I said "yes" and it was a total blast. Even though the Pack did not prevail, we felt like the luckiest humans alive to witness their amazing ride.


What about you? What are you saying "yes" to this month? April feels like a good month to cast caution to the wind and be spontaneous. I hope this month finds you exploring new adventures, saying yes to something good, and savoring once-in-a-lifetime moments.

Scripture On My Heart...

Ephesians 3:20-21(NIV)

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations, for ever and ever!"


I'm learning that God's plans are always better. Like saying yes to once-in-a-lifetime adventures that come your way.


I Remember...

Remembering my sister, Charlene who lost her battle with cancer this week. God was merciful and she didn't suffer long. But I'm remembering her lovely heart - she adored dogs, art, fashion, and seeing beauty in unlikely places. She will be deeply missed.


I Hope To....

Speak life. I've been working on my words lately. I want to speak life and blessings over challenging situations and hard things. As a result, I've been marinating on Ephesians 4:29 (Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth) and considering how to speak life instead.


I Pray...

To see my mission wherever my feet fall. Lately, I'm noticing that God has been placing me in situations and places where I'm invited to listen, care, and pray for others. The old me would have never seen that as significant. In my mind, service is something more formal, and being "on mission" is limited to traveling to a Third World country. But the current me is learning I can be on mission anywhere. Praying to care and serve others wherever my feet fall.


I Celebrate....

Milestone moments. We are flush with milestone moments in our family this season - my grandson Andrew's graduation from high school, my grandson Lincoln's 4th birthday this month, and soon my son Campbell's graduation from college. I hope to be vividly present to all these lovely milestone moments.


Praying that you are discovering new possibilities this month and saying yes to all that is good in your midst.

My heart is with you on losing your sister..I lost mine in 2019 and she fought a hard, long 15 year battle with cancer..her gift and legacy? She was selfless, more concerned with others than herself. She had a plan and worked it to the glory of the Lord..I miss her everyday, she was my best friend,my sounding board, my encourager. My I continue in my life with all I learned from her..much love and blessings to you Cara..🙏❤️🥰
